Anthropic moving upstream into agent infrastructure is a significant signal — if they can own the harness layer where agents actually run, that's a much stickier position than just selling API tokens. "Pre-built agent harness" sounds like they're trying to be the reason companies don't reach for LangChain or custom infra when spinning up Claude-based agents at scale. Whether this is the move depends entirely on how opinionated that harness is — if it's just boilerplate with guardrails, developers will ignore it; if it actually bakes in the patterns that make Claude agents reliable in production, that's a different story. Real ones building agentic systems are watching how opinionated the defaults are, not just whether the infrastructure exists.
