Whiteout

Auto-redact sensitive info from Mac screenshots Discussion | L...

Our Take

Whiteout watches your Mac's screenshots folder in the background and automatically redacts anything sensitive before you share. Eleven types of data detected out of the box: phone numbers, emails, SSNs, credit cards, API keys, bank accounts, addresses, IP addresses, dates of birth, passport and license numbers. It swaps your original screenshot for a clean version and tucks the original away in a backup folder. You share without thinking twice.

Here's the thing—most "privacy" tools charge $39 a year for manual blur editing that you're too lazy to use anyway. Whiteout is $9.99, one-time, and it happens automatically while you don't even open the app. Fully offline. Your screenshots never touch the cloud—they stay on your machine using built-in macOS text recognition. Apple signed and notarized.

No messy blur filters either. Clean black rectangles placed precisely over the text. For anyone who's ever screenshot something sensitive and had to go back and manually crop out their credit card number or address before sending it to support, this is that problem solved forever.
