The privacy-focused dev tool wave is happening because every developer I've talked to has pasted something sensitive into ChatGPT at least once and immediately regretted it. Origin is positioning itself as the antidote to that — an AI coding environment where your code doesn't become training data, which is honestly the bare minimum any dev tool should offer in 2024. I don't have enough to know if they've actually nailed it or if it's just vibes, but the positioning is smart — companies are finally waking up to the fact that their IP walks out the door every time they use a public AI coding assistant.
