Our Take
Jackson Storm looked at the MacBook notch—the thing everyone complained about when Apple put it on the 2021 MacBook Pro—and said "what if we actually made it useful?" And just like that, DynamicNotch was born.
DynamicNotch turns that forehead camera bump into a living system surface. Think iPhone Dynamic Island but for your laptop. You get real-time system stats, media controls, notifications, timers—all living in that pill-shaped space where the camera lives. macOS never did anything with the notch. Apple just left it there looking awkward. Jackson said nope, we're making that real estate work for a living.
It's open source, free, and lives on GitHub. No funding, no VC, just a dev who saw a stupid hardware problem and fixed it themselves. That's the energy. Sometimes you don't need $50 million to build something people actually want—you just need a good idea and a few hours.
Perfect for Mac power users who've been waiting for someone to actually use the notch for something. Grab it on GitHub.
