Docky

Our Take

Docky takes the macOS dock—the same dock that hasn't meaningfully changed in twenty years—and turns it into something actually useful. Built in Guatemala, this is a dock replacement that moves with your workflow instead of just sitting there looking pretty. You can pin the apps you actually reach for, swap in widgets, create custom groups, and throw in Smart Stacks that cycle through multiple widgets in a single tile.

It solves problems you didn't realize you had. The built-in Launchpad works as a fullscreen, searchable app launcher with keyboard navigation. The window switcher shows live previews of every space and window before you commit—so you actually land on the right thing the first time. Widgets like Calendar, Reminders, Battery, Weather, and Now Playing live right in your dock so you can glance at what matters without clicking anything. You can override icons, build rich app folders with nested navigation, and trigger scripted actions directly from the dock.

The system dock is a row of icons fixed to one edge with a single visual style—that's been true since 2001. Docky says nah, the dock is your canvas, not Apple's. It's currently in beta with a trial version available, and if you want the Pro features like custom icons, Smart Stacks, rich folders, and scripted actions, there's a license to buy after you've tested it.

Currently based in Guatemala.
